What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is India’s medicine that is more than 5,000 years old and was put down in writing and mainly deals with maintenance of the harmony of body, spirit and soul. Ayurveda means „the knowledge of healthy life“. Ayurveda tries to heal people in a holistic way.

The focus and the aim of ayurvedic treatment is the activation of the self-healing powers of the body. Ayurveda is a philosophy of life that is applied for the purification of the soul and the detoxification of the body.

Simultaneous massage of the whole body with oil (applied with four hands, Vishesha Sharira):

Two therapists massage you gently and simultaneously with a herb oil that harmonises your energies. It has a healing effect on your tissue, blood and nerves and at the same time isolates the toxic waste matter in your tissue, so that these can be excreted. This massage also supports the supply of blood to the tissue, makes your skin and tissue firmer and leads to deep relaxation.

Massage using raw silk gloves (Garshan)

The traditional ayurvedic Garshan massage is a dry massage with silk gloves. The whole body is massaged just as in the massage of the whole body, but without oil. The gentle stimulation of the connective tissue has a stimulating effect on the metabolism and circulation. Waste matter is reduced more quickly and more easily. In a supporting way, it also helps to prevent and reduce cellulite.

Affusion of the forehead with oil (Shirodhara)

Warm oil flows across your forehead in a fine jet. This application leads to deep relaxation of your spirit and your soul, stabilises your entire nervous system, stimulates your ability to concentrate and helps with headaches, migraine, depressions and sleeplessness.

Massage of the head (Shiroabhyanga)

Head and neck are massaged with oil. Blood circulation is stimulated as a result. Nervous tension is reduced and the growth of hair is aided at the same time.
